The biggest blockbuster of the year 2004 was “A Cinderella Story” which was directed by Mark Rosman and the storyline of the movie was written by Leigh Dunlap. The main theme of this movie revolves around the lost cell phone of Cinderella which is similar to that of the traditional Cinderella story. The main casts of the movie are Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray who play the leading lady and leading guy respectively. This movie is also known for the famous sound tracks “Now you know” and “Our lips are sealed”.
Hilary Duff is the daughter of a widowed father which is enacted by Whip Hubley. The plot actually starts when Hubley falls in love with Jennifer Coolidge and marries her. To the ill-fate of Hilary Duff (Cinderella), her father dies leaving her with Jennifer Coolidge and two daughters (Jennifer Coolidge’s daughters). In the next scene of the movie Hilary Duff is shown as a high school student who is forced to work as a diner by her step mother. Julie Gonzalo, a cheerleader in the school also adds to the misery of Hilary Duff by pestering her always.
The romantic part of the movie is quite a fairy tale because Hilary and Chad Michael Murray (the leading guy of the movie) starts chatting over text messages without even knowing each other. Days pass on this manner and one day Chad invites her to be his partner on the Halloween dance party. Hilary accepted his request. But sadly, Hilary is forced to clean up her step-mother’s room on the night of the Halloween. Hope comes in the form of her best friend (Regina King) who helps her to clean up the room and also takes her to the Halloween party.
Hilary and Chad become dance partners in the Halloween party and their dance moves were graced to perfection. Chad was just about to uncover the mask on the face of Hilary as suddenly the phone alarm of Hilary rings out loud and reminding her of the cleaning job to be finished by midnight. Hilary gets terrified and runs to her home. In her haste, she drops her cell phone which is picked up Chad. Impressed with the dance, Chad is now determined to reveal the true identity of his mystery girl.
Hilary finds Chad performing a school wide search for her but was not bold enough to reveal the truth to him. After some time, Hilary’s step sisters find her emails and ends up showing them to Gonzalo. Together, they plan to humiliate Hilary and succeed in doing so. Hilary returns home sadly when her step mother hands her the rejection letter from Princeton University. Is this the end of the world for Hilary? Will she ever be able to connect with Chad again? I would rather stop here rather than explaining the full story or else the thrill and excitement in watching this movie is completely eliminated.
