Megan Fox’s role in the music video production Love The Way You Lie, performed by Eminem and Rihanna, was more than just an acting opportunity for the twenty five year old actress. She donated her appearance fee to Sojourn Services, a shelter for abused women, which is perfectly fitting as the song is centered on the domestic abuse problem and how couples in an abusive relationship just can’t seem to get themselves out of it.
Sojourn Services works to shelter and help rebuild the lives of woman coming out of violent relationships and any children involved. They were established in 1977, they help woman of all cultures, religions and classes. They wish to educate society on the severity of the subject and provide aid wherever they can.
The exact donated fee could not be disclosed, but it is said that it was a very generous donation and will make quite a bit of difference within the charity.
Fox filmed with Dominic Monaghan, actor best know from the film Lord Of The Rings and TV series Lost and together the two filmed scenes of violence and love rolled into one confusing mix. It demonstrated effectively how abusive relationships function, highlighting the main causes. It did not glorify the abuse or the twisted relationship in any way shape or form. When tackling a subject so controversial as this, subtlety in it’s extreme is required. n Megan’s case that’s apparent.
Eminem commented that Megan and Dominic “really brought it and made the video super-powerful”. The video was directed by Joseph Khan. It is an emotional video, made strong by its simplicity and clarity. That and the brilliant performance from the two actors made the video a heart-throb. It really sends the message intended to viewers and hopefully will have some effect on the awareness of the subject.
